The Niger Delta is almost synonymous with conflicts. The oil companies are not to be exonerated from this. In fact, they feed more into the conflicts than any other factor since most of the conflicts there are oil/gas-related. Families and communities are fractured due to decades of animosity over who shares from or takes the little benefits from oil and gas extraction. It is easier for the oil companies to take advantage of the communities when they are divided. SACA has been engaging with such families and communities to help them resolve their differences, work together towards a more peaceful and sustainable Niger Delta and so attract meaningful development for the area.
